Classic LCD

A restrained electronic instrument with a passive display, three side controls and deliberately bounded timing functions.

A classic digital watch separates reading from setting. Large segmented digits give the primary time; smaller calendar and status fields explain what the instrument is doing. Its apparent simplicity depends on a clear mode order and controls whose jobs change predictably.

A useful precedent, not a copied module

Casio's F-91W documents a compact resin watch with a three-button interface. Its manual distinguishes normal time, alarm and stopwatch operations, including split timing and a 59-minute, 59.99-second range. Those are useful functional references, not permission to label an original design with Casio's module number. F-91W specifications, Casio 593 operating guide.

An LCD is not continuously illuminated just because its digits are visible. Compare the display and illumination guide before confusing a pale reflective field with an emitting screen.

In the atelier

Classic LCD is an original electronic module, available in the eight standard case families and Rectangle compact. Its fixed rectangular screen sits inside a shaped faceplate. Neither its display nor its carrier is squeezed to fill a different case.

Mode cycles Time, Alarm and Stopwatch. A compact operating strip exposes the current actions of the side controls without a settings sheet. Time follows your device's local clock in 24-hour format, with a leap-aware local calendar. This deliberately differs from the cited historical calendar implementation.

The stopwatch starts, pauses and resumes. Split freezes the reading while timing continues; releasing it shows the current elapsed time. Reset is available only while stopped. At 59:59.99 it stops instead of silently wrapping. There is no countdown timer in this module.

Light lasts two seconds and is separate from the scene's Night setting. The 07:00 local-time alarm starts disarmed and can be armed or disarmed in Alarm mode. It is a muted in-page demonstration, not a reliable reminder when the page is closed or suspended. No audio adapter, battery-life estimate, oscillator-accuracy rating or manufacturer certification is provided. See digital controls and timing for operation and session-reset behaviour.
